Repair or replace? Six questions before a big decision

Replacement may be warranted, but it should not be the first conclusion based solely on an online symptom description. Ask for evidence and a clear scope.

1. What actually failed?

Request a written explanation identifying the suspected component and the basis for that conclusion, including what was inspected and what could not be confirmed.

2. Which alternatives were considered?

Compare targeted repair, maintenance, corrections to loading or site water conditions, and replacement where applicable. Do not assume that every alternative is appropriate for every property.

3. Which approvals are needed?

County soil/site suitability, permitting, design and inspection requirements may constrain the feasible choices. Confirm with the county health department.

4. What changes in risk and warranty?

Ask which warranty relates to workmanship, equipment and actual system performance; ask for exclusions, site-restoration details and who handles follow-up if a problem recurs.
